I’ve come to work on the master plan for a leadership and vocational training institute in the Niger Delta. Joel Bisina, a Nigerian friend who leads an NGO called NIDPRODEV (www.nidprodev.org), has dreams of building the center in the Niger Delta.
It’s planned for a 10 acre creekside site about 45 minutes outside Warri, the commercial center of Delta State. Classes, workshops, conferences, convocations and performances will be held there.
Vocational students will live on site. A welcoming hotel and bungalows will accommodate short term guests. All will be developed and built with sustainability in mind. The center is intended to be a place where people can gather together apart from the bustle of ordinary life to make new alliances, learn new skills and imagine a brighter future.
