Project: Strenghtening Transparency and Accountability in the Niger Delta (STAND)

STAND is an initiative to promote responsive and accountable governance practices in the Niger Delta and other places in Nigeria . The project is funded by the Department for International Development (DFID) of the UK Government and implemented by Institute for Democracy in South Africa (IDASA) Nigeria Office in partnership with Niger Delta-based NGOs: - Niger Delta Professionals for Development (NIDPRODEV), Pro-natural International (PNI) and Centre for Environment, Human Rights and Development (CEHRD) With NIDPRODEV as Delta State implementing partner. the basic objectives of the project are; to increase the transparency of LGAs, probe the accountability of target LGAs to their communities, lever improvements in LGA investment in basic service provision and achievement of MDGs.

  • Installation of VSAT(Internet service)
  • Equipping the library with new Furniture, Air conditioner, Generator
  • Dialogue sessions between the Itsekiri and Ijaw
  • Computer training for Ijaw and Itsekiri youths.
